Formed in 1991 by Jobson, a culmination of remnants from two earlier Brisbane outfits: 'Mystery of Sixes' and 'Insane Hombres': Jobson taking lead position and Terry taking to the Bass. Several Guitarists were auditioned, amongst them Sid Roberts, Steven Liddle and Sean Witcher. Sean was chosen because of his tendency to play dry. Apart from an override pedal Sean used no effects.
On drums was Mark who left after a demo was recorded at broken toys. Taking up that vacancy was a 17 year old professional saxophone player: Paul McCullen who took to the kit like Luthor himself.
A dilemma had formed, Jobson wanted specifically to form a Punk Rock Band but McCullen played strict Overdriven Metal. Bazaar timing shifts and a huge drum kit made everyone evaluate where they were. The result was a six track ep: 'Poison in the Soup' the sound had formed. Syd Roberts was taken on as Rhythm guitarist and another ep was recorder 'Fairground for insanity'. Paul departed to take up professional motor racing and Lindsay slipped into his place.
By now the band had built a reputation based on theatrics and faultless performances. Fire Breathing, full frontal nudity and arrests mid performances soon assured the Dream Killers were pulling 1000 people to each show. All ages gigs had to be pre sold and were often Sold Out in 2 or 3 hours. Jobson: the only Australian signing to Californian Punk Label " Alternative Tentacles" had the whole world watching.
The band went on to record 3 Albums (there is also a lost untitled album) another ep and two singles, eventually signing to "Roadrunner"
The band called it quits on a rainy Ballarat morning in March 1997. But they are back, under the monicker Jobson's Dreamkillers - with Les fronting a new line-up (with the addition of a second guitrist). To find out more about the Dreamkillers saga and click the website link below...
